Time Waits for No One

This “Daun Simpoh” (Dillenia suffruticosa) was flowering within reach so I plucked a sprig. I thought the flower’s yellow was exactly the shade I could get with a pure wash of Holbein’s Aureolin.

Alas, I got interrupted halfway through my painting.

And here’s the actual specimen sadly withering away in front of me today….
